Escrito por Beatriz Calero Yaaaay! One of our favourite fashion trends is definitely back!!! Tweed shorts (and blazers) will be fashionable again this season, and we are (literally!) dying to get our own Chanel-alike suit! You may think this fabric is just meant to be worn during the winter season, but it is actually perfect for summer as it will be printed in shorts and summery skirt-suits. Are you a fashion addict? Then, you probably know everything about the queen of Haute Couture, Coco Chanel. As you know, she left us some of the most iconic pieces of the fashion industry: the little black dress, the 2.55 bag, the pearls´necklace, and, of course, the tweed suit! To create the original tweed suit, Chanel took inspiration from the Scottish traditional skirts (known as Kilts). This suit became one of the Maison Chanel best-sellers during the 20s and ideal outfit for women who wanted to dress elegant and sophisticated! Today, the tweed suit still means elegance, and contemporary designers and firms have redesigned the classic Chanel suit in a more millennial style: with mini shorts and small blazers usually worn unbuttoned! Actually, one of our favourite millennial fashionistas was the first ones in making us fall in love (again) with this trend. During last Valentine´s day, Kendall

Written by Laura Antolín Waking up in the morning and putting the first thing we grab from the closet. That sounds like something we do quite often, doesn’t it? Or the other way around, we are unable to choose anything among all the many clothes we have and in the end, we choose the same outfit we wear every single week, complaining that we don’t have enough clothes – not true: we have enough, but we always want more. Anyway, can’t we just say that choosing everyday outfit is hard? Now, add the fact that the summer is getting warmer and warmer and we have to get dressed for the office. Isn’t it a nightmare? Written by Laura Antolín Summer wedding season is right here, which means open bars to empty, dancefloors to hit, handsome single men to eye up and, of course, pretty outfits to shop. That’s by far the most difficult task wedding guests have to face. In the case of women, we obviously want to look gorgeous, but we don’t want to be the woman who overshadows the bride, or tries to — absolutely no. But things can get even worse when we are invited to a certain kind of wedding and we are asked to dress up in a specific way — oops! From the most demanding dress codes to the more relaxed ones for a wedding at the beach, in DressedIn Madrid we have lots of ideas to inspire you. Take a look! White tie. The most formal of dress codes. If you are invited to a white-tie wedding, you’d better know there’s no room for mistakes, so say goodbye to experimental or scandalous looks. Get it right, for this type of wedding, you are expected to be in a floor-length gown. Round out the look with a clutch, fine pumps and subtle jewelry! And from white to black tie. Black-tie weddings usually take place in the evening and although it’s a pretty formal ceremony,
Written by Laura Antolín Is it suddenly hot in here or is it just the increasing trend of tropical prints that are making temperatures rise? From Dolce & Gabbana’s colourful mixed and matched dreamy prints to Gucci’s flowers and snakes camouflage, the print for the summer couldn’t be more appropriate. The explosion of colour and the chaotic mix of all kinds of flora and fauna, islands, clear waters and forests in fashion designs are the perfect recipe for a summer vibe. Finally, there is a trend that makes us dream and imagine ourselves in tropical summer paradises! That’s fashion wise! This season’s print is fresh, inspirational and has that summery vibe we’ve been waiting for months — could we just conclude that summer is finally here? The idea for this summer is to look feminine and pretty in tropical prints, what more could you ask for? Whether you want to feel super sexy as Sophia Loren in Saint Tropez or wear clothes that make you feel like you are on an eternal vacation, make sure to not miss the tropical trend this season. Pull off the print from head to toe, or simply start with a hibiscus necklace and palazzo pants, but let us warm you: before you realize, this pattern will have taken over
Written by Laura Antolín Pink and red are a no-go? Gold goes with gold, silver with silver and bronze with bronze? If you are tired of a fashion subject to rules that don’t lead anywhere, you’re probably going to love our blog topic today: mix and match! What happens when pattern meets print? A predictable disaster or a glorious miracle? Not everyone is born knowing how to mix and match prints and textures — not even colours! And don’t even mention geometries, flowers and psicodelia! — we don’t want anyone’s head to explode! In consequence. one simply sticks to simple and boring outfits that follow static and predictable rules. In DressedIn we tell you to break’em all! Forget about pre-established canons, senseless prejudices and those unwritten rules on what we can or cannot combine. It’s time to play with different patterns, colours and silhouettess in fashion. A bet for the “more is more” and originality! If you want to master the art of mix and match, park aside everything you knew and take good note of our tips! 1.- Keep it in the family! Have you ever wondered how to mix colours and make them match? Just choose those from the same family! For example, in the white and pastels family, you have cotton white,
Written by Laura Antolín High heels can be a woman’s best friend, or maybe not. Aches, corns, blisters, bunions… Ok, ok. We get it, high heels can hurt, and a lot. Let’s face it, there is no comfortable way to wear a five-inch stiletto for a whole day —not even for eight hours straight. And yet, we refuse to ditch high heels completely: they elongate our legs, they make us look slimmer and somehow, more confident. When we are on a pair of high heels, we feel the most important woman in the world, like if we could do anything — is it maybe the sound of the heels clacking against the floor? And of course, when it comes to being stylish, nothing beats a pair of gorgeous high heels! Incredible though it may seem, we’ve been taught ever since we were little girls that beauty comes with a price — no pain, no gain. How many times did we hear that in order to be beautiful we have to suffer? But after all, who would look glamourous and sexy while wobbling around a room in pain? Imagine you are in a party and your feet are killing you — how often did this actually happen to us? —, your mood would be ruined for
Written by Laura Antolín Every season has its own fashion star: we already witnessed how over-the-knee boots were a big thing in autumn and winter outfits, now another totally different kind of footwear is getting all the attention of bloggers, editors and lovers of fashion: the flat mules! Just when we thought it couldn’t get easier than sneakers and slips-on, flat mules made a headlining appearance. In case you were wondering, yes, they are the flat version of the stylish mules, being backless shoes their main feauture —don’t miss our tipps on how to wear backless. It seems the trend for comfort — or athleisure trend —, increased by the relaxed outfits of models like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, is gaining more and more followers in the fashion industry — if we’ve seen Victoria Beckham giving up on high heels and surprising us all with flat shoes collections, there must be really something going on! And we, as mere mortals and fashion addicts aware of the difficulties and day-to-day challenges of commuting around on heels, couldn’t help but join the bandwagon. Comfy — from loose shirting and timeless sweatpants to pyjama trousers wereable by day — is big news! And flat mules are right here, waiting to take sneakers’ crown as the go-to shoe
Written by Laura Antolin Let’s go back to when we were kids! Do you remember when you had a hole on your sweater or jeans and your mother covered it with great skill with patches? No need to say that we hated those patches with flowers and other cute motives that she put on our clothes. As kids, we just wanted to look cool like grown-ups — obviously! —, and wearing cute patches on our ripped clothes was not precisely the definition of cool that we had in mind — we just wanted new clothes anyway! However, as ironic as it may seem, patches for clothing are back. The difference this time is that we love them! Back to the 90s, patches were also part of the social identity of those youngers influenced by the grunge movement — of course, they didn’t wear cute patches, but patches of bands or with political messages instead —, and today, almost thirty years later, they are one of the biggest trends right now, wearable by some of the most stylish and fashionable people in the industry! Who doesn’t remember Chiara Ferragni wearing those super cool boyfriend jeans with colourful patches? Or Rihanna rocking a leather biker jacket full of standout patches by Dries Van Noten? The list of celebrities
Written by Laura Antolín Have you been wondering why everyone’s sleeves are seemingly getting bigger and bigger? Don’t panic, you don’t have a vision problem! “Go big or go home” was the message sent out by designers on the runways this season and we have rapidly seen the consequences in stores. Right after the comeback of flared jeans, now voluminous sleeves are having their moment too. From all types of sleeves seen on the catwalk — remember the asymetric arms at Jonathan Saunders or the bishop sleeves at Emilia Wickstead — it’s official: the bell shaped sleeves have taken the biscuit on the street style scene. Fitted until a certain part of your arm and then flared out drawing a bell shape, these sleeves will become the focus of a whole outfit. If you want to find out how you can style and wear this new trend, don’t miss our cool suggestions! Bell sleeves offer countless ways to create a pleasing on the eyes visual contrast, and there’s no better way to do this than choosing a bell-sleeved crop top. Team it up with fleared jeans and wedges for a 70’s look, as if you were an it-girl at Coachella! — we’d love to see it paired with a flower crown and a leather saddle bag.
