There is no fashion item which summarises better an emotion or a feeling as a jewel does. Jewels, as well as watches, stay with us during our whole lifetime. If you think about it, grooms usually offer a ring to brides in order to propose marriage and we usually give jewels as presents to our loved ones!

Also, they usually say “jewels are a girl´s best friend”. We are big supporters of this saying and that is why we did not want to miss the biggest jewellery event in Spain: The Madrid Joya Fair!

Last edition of the Madrid Joya Fair took place last weekend (between the 20th and the 24th of September) at IFEMA. MadridJoya, which is known for being the International Urban and Trendy Jewellery and Watch Fair in Spain, presented -in this last edition- the collections of 252 jewellery companies and firms!

September edition of Madrid Joya presents all the jewellery trends for the upcoming seasons and it is always really focused on the Christmas season. This is because jewels and watches are number 1 gifts and best sellers during the Christmas holidays.

Among the exhibitors that participated in this edition, we found big and well-established fine jewellery brands as well as some medium firms and new designers. On the other hand, the salon has organised an area called MINIS, where small companies and workshops have access to a mini stand, from where they can show their products.

Along with the exhibition of new collections and trends, MadridJoya organised a really complete and interesting agenda filled with talks, DIY workshops and shows. All of these activities were part of their so-called Speakers´ Corner that counted with the participation of many jewellery experts!

And now, let´s get to the most important part, the spotted trends for 2017 and 2018:

This edition we saw a lot of jewels made with colourful gemstones, geometrical shapes and XXL sizes!

As you know, the maxi earrings have been absolutely trendy during the last season and they will keep rocking the accessories market!

Regarding necklaces, we will see long and thin chains and fine chokers made in regular or pink gold.

On the other hand, pearls will be definitely back during 2018 and they will adorn not only jewels but also other accessories such as shoes or bags!

Last but not least, we will wear smart, feminine and small watches for women, something we have already started to see among celebrities and influencers!
